Year 1 Classes
Welcome to Year 1
Fox Class
Mrs Payne, Mrs Williams and Mrs Holmes are excited to be working with our lovely Fox Class this year. We believe it is important to work well with each other and treat each other with kindness and respect. Everyone is welcome here and treated fairly; we like to treat each other how we would also want to be treated.
In Year 1, we learn lots of exciting new things together such as life cycles and about Kandinsky. We also love to read together every day to share our love of reading. Foxes are intelligent and adaptable creatures and we can't wait to see what Year 1 has in store for us this year!
Orangutan Class
Orangutan Class is a fun filled class that ensures children make loads of progress as well as having a wonderful time. We are lucky to have two helpful teachers: Mrs Kumar and Mrs Wells as well as a fantastic Ta, Mrs Hutchings.
We can’t wait for all the enjoyable and interesting things we will be learning about in Year 1. We will be learning about our local area, famous explorers, toys, plants and much, much more! One of Mrs Kumar’s favourite lessons is Maths and she can’t wait to show you the fun and active ways we can learn about numbers. Get ready to use lots of exciting resources to help us with our Maths. One of Mrs Wells favourite lessons is Computing where she will show use how to instruct Bee-Bots, create music on an iPad, draw using a computer and loads more exciting skills.
Everyone in Orangutan class prides themselves on showing our core values: responsibility, resilience, empathy and bravery every single day. We work hard to support each other, be kind and make a safe learning environment for everyone.
We can’t wait to see how we grow over Year 1 and swing with success!
Lion Class
We love being in Lion Class with Mrs Varley and Mrs McBride. Lions are friendly and brave just like us and we are looking forward to new learning.
We can’t wait for all the fun and exciting things we will be learning about in Year 1. We will be learning about ourselves and the passing of time, the world around us and how we relate to local area, and much, much more! One of Mrs Varley’s favourite things to do is reading and in Lion Class we love reading a new book every day. She particularly loves Harry Potter! We will learn to retell stories that we know and create our own stories in fun ways to really help our learning sink in.
We like to be more independent and active learners, so Mrs Varley and Mrs McBride will encourage us to have a go first and try our best. Although, we do like a challenge and enjoy finding solutions on our own or by helping our friends. Of course, the adults are there to help us if we get really stuck though!
Everyone is welcome in Lion Class and we enjoy discovering all that we know and showing how resilient we are at all that we do. However, a hug is always there if you need one from a snuggly Lion.
As you may well know, Lions live in prides and we are just like a pride who look out for each other and pride ourselves in team work.
We can’t wait to see how we grow over Year 1 and roar with success!
