Welcome to Year 3
Sloth Class
Get ready for an exciting adventure filled with curiosity, creativity and discovery! In Sloth Class, we will explore the past, travel through time and uncover amazing stories as we dive into our fascinating topics.
This year, we will journey into The Glorious Greeks, where mighty gods, daring heroes and ancient Olympic games will spark our imaginations. We will then unlock the mysteries of The Enchanting Egyptians, discovering shimmering treasures, powerful pharaohs and the secrets hidden inside towering pyramids. Finally, we will march into the world of The Remarkable Romans, learning about fearless soldiers, incredible inventions and the building of an empire that changed history forever!
Alongside our incredible learning, we will have lots of fun expressing ourselves, working as a team and trying new challenges every day. Because my favourite subject is art, I will be on the lookout for some fantastic class artists this year! Whether you love to paint, draw, sculpt or design, Sloth Class is the perfect place to let your creativity shine.
We cannot wait to welcome you into our classroom, where every day is an adventure and every learner is encouraged to be curious, confident and proud.

Llama Class
Mrs Jordan, Mrs Antoncini and Mrs Atkinson are delighted to be teaching Llama Class this year. We are looking forward to all the exciting learning adventures ahead!
Did you know that llamas hum to communicate with each other? Just like llamas, we believe that listening, sharing ideas and working together are important skills that will help us all thrive.
This year, we are particularly excited to extend our skills as creative writers, build our confidence and knowledge of timetables through fun challenges on TTRS and becoming time-travelling historians. We cannot wait to share our favourite eras – Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greeks and Ancient Romans – with you. Our time together will be filled with colourful Art and DT projects, curious Science experiments and a collection of books we just cannot put down.
Our school values of Bravery, Resilience, Responsibility and Empathy will be at the heart of everything we do. We will be brave when tackling new challenges, resilient when learning feels tricky, responsible for our behaviour and empathetic towards our classmates and wider community. Llamas will showcase the best of Swingate!
Most of all, we are excited to watch the children's knowledge, friendships and even their height grow throughout the year! We look forward to a year filled with curiosity, laughter and memorable experiences as we work together to make Year 3 a fantastic year for everyone.
Quokka Class
Mr Gillett and Miss Tulett would like to welcome you to Quokka Class. We love to show our resilience in our learning, as well as bravery in our work. Together we look forward to all of our exciting lessons for the year including: looking at The Romans, The Egyptians and The Greeks in History; North America, where our food comes from and The UK in Geography; animals, forces and space, materials, energy, and plants in Science. Our class is full of motivated and diligent learners that are always keen to improve themselves whilst showing empathy and support for their peers. We are all really excited for the year to come!
