Year 1 Classes
Welcome to Year 1
Fox Class
Mrs Payne and Mrs Hutchings are excited to be working with our lovely Fox Class this year. We believe it is important to work well with each other and treat each other with kindness and respect. Everyone is welcome here and treated fairly; we like to treat each other how we would also want to be treated.
In Year 1, we learn lots of exciting new things together such as life cycles and Kandinsky. We also love to read together every day to share our love of reading. Foxes are intelligent and adaptable creatures and we can't wait to see what Year 1 has in store for us this year!
Orangutan Class
Mrs Antoncini, Mrs Kumar and Mrs Turpie welcome you to Orangutan class. We are enthusiastic learners who cannot wait to delve into more books throughout this year. We count, we read, we sing, we dance and we show everyone how amazing Orangutans are. We have so much excitement in store through out year 1. We learn stories, adding our own actions to help us, through talk for writing and innovate them to make them our very own. Maybe the next top author is in Orangutans showing us their skills? From different animals coming to tea, to aliens on the loose, what will be next? We will learn about our local area and look at comparisons in our live to the lives of those before us. We take pride in showing our four school values in Orangutan Class; bravery, resilience, responsibility and empathy. We try hard in year 1 to increase our independence but our adults are always on hand to give us support and a helping hand along the way. Whether we need a chat, a friendly hug or even a high five our fellow Orangutans are close by. We cannot wait to see how much you grow and develop over the year.
Lion Class
We love being in Lion Class with Mrs Varley and Mrs McBride. Lions are friendly and brave just like us and we are looking forward to new learning.
We can’t wait for all the fun and exciting things we will be learning about in Year 1. We will be learning about ourselves and the passing of time, the world around us and how we relate to local area, and much, much more! One of Mrs Varley's favourite things to do is reading and in Lion Class we love reading a new book every day. She particularly loves Harry Potter! We will learn to retell stories that we know and create our own stories in fun ways to really help our learning sink in.
We like to be more independent and active learners, so Mrs Varley and Mrs McBride will encourage us to have a go first and try our best. Although, we do like a challenge and enjoy finding solutions on our own or by helping our friends. Of course, the adults are there to help us if we get really stuck though!
Everyone is welcome in Lion Class and we enjoy discovering all that we know and showing how resilient we are at all that we do. However, a hug is always there if you need one from a snuggly Lion.
As you may well know, Lions live in prides and we are just like a pride who look out for each other and pride ourselves in team work.
We can't wait to see how we grow over Year 1 and roar with success!
